Our Happy Easter
We had a great Easter.
It was weird to be back in Utah close to family. I am used to doing everything on my own. So it was nice to have family close by to share in some of the preparation of the activities, Easter dinner and such. But it also seemed to make the day feel more busy, we were rushing off to go here and there.
We have 9:00am church and Matt had to say the opening prayer, so we were rushing to get out on time. I had everyone ready but my self, so I asked Matt to snap a couple of pictures before he buckled them in the car. And it is a good thing because when we got home, Cody was changed into his "comfies" before I had the chance to even walk in the door. We then found our Easter Baskets,
Cody's was in the pantry and Elena's was in the Pots and Pan cupboard. Usually our Easter Bunny does not bring toys such as a "Leapster" but he/she justified it by not spending a lot on candy or little dumb
Easter toys that seem to land their way into the garbage with in a few days. And Cody didn’t get a new Easter outfit, because his orange vest from last year seemed to work fine again this year. I could go on and on with my justification in the matter, but the fact is, I am just as thrilled as he is, not only is it so fun for him to play, it is also a great motivator and discipliner. “clean your room up, get ready for bed, eat your vegetables, push your poop out……or ……Do you want me to
put your Leapster in time out???” You get the idea. I just hope that next year it won’t be a problem when our normal Easter gifts are back in play. Matt also brought home some Cummings Easter Eggs form….well I am not sure where he got them, but they had Legacy Retirement scripted on them, but again….the ages of our kids, lets us get away with things like that. We then made Eggs Benedict, and three
bunny cakes, took one cake to Cody's friend Venessa, then headed out to Matt’s house. We had Easter egg hunt with all the cousins, an Easter family night lesson (which was nice to have a few minutes to focus on the real reason), an Easter feast and then we were off to visit my mom. It is so nice to be so close to her that we can just pop in any time we are in the area. Any ways, fun filled day.

ReplyDeleteYou are a great Mom! We 8 of your bunny cakes. I showed a pic of the one you made us years ago and they wanted to try it out. I never could find the cute sno-ball bums though -- I swear I went everywhere except Walmart trying to find them (which is probably where they are)! Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteThe bunny cakes are so cute, what a fun tradition. I'm glad Cody enjoyed his Leapster, it sounds like it was worth it.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun, glad that is was such a good weekend for you guys as well. I totally think we should plan a little get together for the people who live up North.... we could do our house, or yours works GREAT as well! Let's put something together :)
ReplyDeletePush your poop out or leapster gets time out?!?! That's hilarious!! :O)
ReplyDeleteI want to get together with you!! We should do a BBQ or something. Let me know when you are available. E-mail wowluckymama@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteIsn't it crazy how busy you keep with family close by. I love your kids bright easter outfits. I hear ya on the sleeveless thing. Even in Memphis it was still cold. You would think they'd at least put a small sleeve on some of these dresses.
