The 10 Year Dream

It has been 10 years, maybe even more since Matt first had his eye on the Endless Pool. On Thursday his dream finally came true. Matt took the morning off from work to help with the install. Matt could hardly wait to jump in and try it out. Once it was done...You couldn't get him out of that pool. Matt has a work ethic like I have never seen and this was the closest he had ever come to just taking the rest of the day off. But despite my temptress efforts and that of the glistening pool. He showered and changed from his swim suite to his business suite. Guess someone has to earn the money to pay for this thing. Thanks for all you do Matt, I am glad you finally have your endless pool. You definitely deserve it.

This is a video of Matt's first time using the Endless Pool, as you can see he is book'n it. The worker guys were skeptical of this "swim machine". I think Matt convinced them that this is no wimpy jets shooting water in your face, this is the real deal.

The Kids also have a blast with this too, It kind of gives a lazy river affect. It reminds me of that part on Finding Nemo, where they were in the current with the sea turtles.

Day 23

It is done, at least enough for us to enjoy. There are still some finishing touches to add....like landscaping that we will try and piece together here and there. And Matt's endless pool should be installed sometime this week. But we are up and swimming!!! Friday (day 23) was a really fun day. Matt had been gone for seven days to Tennessee for his annual management meeting. I picked him up around 12:30 from the airport, we stoped at Walmart and got some hamburgers and and a propane tank. Then we headed home, got him all unpacked, picked up Cody from school and then got ready for our first swim. I only took a few pictures, because after I got in the pool, I never got out. We had SOOO much fun. It is amazing that it is just out our back door. Cody just took off swimming all over the place, as long as he has his goggles on, he can swim. If he takes them off, he gets right into his floaties. Elena, is amazing in her floaties, she cruses along everywhere and it is so fun to have us all enjoying the pool together. We had a BBQ (actually our first one since living in Sierra Vista, if that is not pathetic..) It was an awesome night and continued all through the weekend.

The Pool Part 2

Ok so moving right along. Day 19 they came and tiled the pool. Other then I love the tile, there is not really anything exciting to report. Day 20, we had our last inspection.

Day 21-22

Day 21 was a big day and lots happened. First the cleaning crew came in and cleaned the pool. Then they rested and played basket ball in the drive way. (too bad...no picture of the basket ball play'n)

Then the plaster arrived and they started spraying that on. They had some fun spiky shoes for this part. And then came the smoothing and more funny shoes. I think these guys would be great at decorating cakes and getting the frosting all smooth. In fact the empty pool made me think of cake, one with fondant frosting. Any way....then they wrapped a glove around our hose and cranked it on. And placed it on the drain, this prevents from getting a big divot in the pool from the force of the water. It took about 28 hours to fill the pool, and because water here, comes out warm...the temp was perfect to just jump on in. It probably would have been fine to jump in and swim, but I kept the kids out, because it was really dusty from the plaster. So on Day 22 later in the after noon when the pool was all full. Our pool guy came and dumped lots of salt and a few other things in to start the pool up for the first time. I did not get any pictures of this. We ran it the rest of the day and all night.

From Drab to Dynamite

Lets face it, the house is brown, the ground is brown, it is all just brown. This isn't even the brown that is in right now.....it is some other drab, boring brown. Our plan for our front yard was to check out the couch cushions for any loose change, and try and scrounge up any extra money we can find to buy us a pile of rocks and a few plants and hope the HOA just says...Great Job we accept your front yard. We had a dead line of 60 days, (we bought our house on June 30th but didn't move until July 20th) but I was able to get and extenstion of October 1st. These HOAs are going to be the death of me. Matt thinks he should just be the president so he can approve what ever he wants. I say...Matt calm down and just let me deal with. Any ways, everyday we get at least one landscaping business card or flyer, but the other day it was a knock at our door. And there stood Kanny (I like to refer to him as Handy Kanny (ha ha I am so funny)). He said he wanted to draw up a plan for our front yard and asked for our plot plan. I gave him one and he said he would be back the next night to propose his design to us. Well the next night we were succored into his plan. And three days later whala....Dynamite!! Everything I wanted, he did it. Pavers, dry river bed, cactus, tropical and some grass. It is beautiful....my favorite little guy is this little round cacti (gosh, and I am a poet too (ok it is midnight give me a brake) so cute don't you think and yes he is very poky. I am so glad the font yard is done!!!!! The only bad news of it all...there was no money in the couch cushions just a rasinet and some pretzels. Ok, so who wants to donate to the Matt and Lori Fund???

The Pool

We have decided to join the ranks of a pool owner. The last time Matt and I tried to build our own swimming pool..... well as you can see from these pictures, we definitely get and A for effort and and A+ for fun! But our designs didn't last very long. Although I do have to give Chris credit for even attempting to line the pool with plastic. Since pool building is not our forte we decided to hire out. Being Utah folk, we had no idea what the process would be, and figured many of you would like to see the process too. So now you can follow our pool progress.

Step One:
Choose a Great Location.

Day One - WE DIG!!!

We started digging on August 26th. Digging the hole took about 5 hours maybe less. It was amazing! Crazy how they can shape the steps and everything with that big claw and strait out of the dirt. The kids had fun playing ball in the big hole, but they had even more fun playing in the pile of left over dirt. We had the excavator leave about 1/8 of the dirt, so that we can use it for landscaping, but right now the kids all it their san box.
